What about cute PUNKS???:P~

You seem very Aquarian for some reason.

Astrologers, btw, say it is the sign of genius.

You're 28 already? I thought you were 27. Your b/day's in... 6 days, right? (it was also one of my brother's b/days)

*Ahem* Height?? (not that it should matter; just curious) Dark brown hair and blue eyes? Wow; great combination in anyone. ;)

Anyway, you don't believe in your friends at the moment?? :\ ...Okay, I won't be nosy.

You're more observant than I am!

You know the other day I had to go lookup on my "Vexen Timeline" to figure out how old I was, I couldn't remember. My housemate came in at that moment and noticed I had only filled in my age as "2" on the form I was filling out, and exclaimed that I was distracted so easily I could stop half way through writing a two letter word to go do something else!

"Dark brown hair and blue eyes? Wow; great combination in anyone. ;)"

Thanks flower :-)

My height is 5'11", and my weight is 9 and a half stone with my clothes on (which, at the moment, includes jeans, 2 jumpers and 2 tshirts, etc, it's cold!), that makes me underweight. Damn goths! Thankfully I'm not fragile.

I *do* believe in my friends, I have great friends, including you, I do know what prompted me to say "not at the moment", but actually it was just a silly thing to do with only one person that caused me to write that, is ok now.

*L* That sounds very Aquarius!

Pardon my ignorance here, but how much is a stone -- in pounds? (the weight pounds, not the money pounds :)) ...How does being goth make you underweight?

Good to hear. :)

I don't know how much that is in pounds, but I do know that it is, I think, 60kg.

It's a stereotype that male goths are half wasted-away, pale, underweight, pale, etc! Johnny The Homocidal Maniac, one of the all time most famous goths, is a comic characiture of this stereotype and is matchstick-thin. There is one scene where there is a field of goths gathered for some purpose, hundreds of them, all skinny, all with black hair, black clothes, big boots, cloaks, corsets, wearing ankhs and odd pieces of silver jewellery, a whole field of them. And their spokesperson says... wait for it... "We are here to express our individuality!"

Anyway... this stereotype seems more profound (JTHM is American too) in America. I was shocked at how fat everyone is on the occasions I've been to America, it was hard to believe (I've been to Seattle & SanFrancisco). But in all the goth clubs I went to (2 in SF and 2 in Seattle) everyone's been "normal" sized!

I just got up (at 10pm) and my lightbulb blew, I have to go all night in the dark! I'm running out of candles too because I've been using them to stay a bit warmer through the night! This means that when I take my half-hour breaks from the computer, I have to go sit on the stairs to read a book!

Oh no, now I have to do MATH??? *L* Well, let's see... I think 1 kg is about 2.2 lb. So that's... 132 lb? That does sound underweight for someone 5'11"! Sheesh, dude. Eat some pasta! :)

And their spokesperson says... wait for it... "We are here to express our individuality!"
*L* Yeah, that's kinda like the bumper stickers I've seen around here that read "You Non-comformists Are All Alike."

Fat Americans: Yep. We met some people from Germany last year. Said after watching American TV programs (like Baywatch, etc.), they expected most people here to be svelte, tanned and athletic. Uhhh, nope. I don't think it's just the U.S., though. But there are news programs all the time now about the "obesity problem." Too many biggie-size fast food items, junk foods at the markets, and not enough exercise! It's strange. I'm no skinny-minnie but I often feel very slim in comparison with much of the population, and it's no different here in Napa.

You just got up at 10 p.m?? Do you work nights? No stores open this late? :)

Pasta... there's an idea!

Germans watch Baywatch? My estimation of Germans just dropped a bit :-)

Ya, compare obesity stats for the USA to those of the rest of the world, the USA is ahead by leaps and bounds. The 2nd most obese country is the UK, and we're catching up, but we still have something like 10 or 20 times fewer medically obese people. The USA (correct me if I'm wrong) has reached the stage where 1/4 people are considered medically obese.

I had expected the police force to be fitter, but the police I've seen (although none were grotesque) were just as bad! We joke (as in... the British) that the Americans carry guns because the police can never be bothered to run after anyone, and because all the criminals are unfit and can't fight :P

There are shops open this late, mostly 24hr garages (there are no 24hr supermarkets near here), but I couldn't be bothered to walk when I do quite like sitting in the dark with candles :-) In the end, my housemate was still up because someone phoned him at 1am, so I got one off him, he bought loads of cheap ones.

Oh while we're at it... I spotted another English/American difference! In English, the short word for "Mathematics" is "Maths", not "Math". So, yeah, you're maths was right!

I don't know any Spanish, by the way, I cheated and used an online translation program :P ... http://world.altavista.com/ Babel, very useful but limited translation. Quite a lot of Americans seem to know Spanish, I think it's the equivalent to French or German here. Is it taught in schools? I took French, but now I wish I took German because half the industrial music I listen to is in German!

Well, apparently those Germans had seen Baywatch. It's broadcast all over the world, ya know. :) (No, I don't watch it.)

Yes, the U.S. is getting fatter and fatter. It's changed a lot just in the past 20 years. Not enough time to eat right, too many convenience foods everywhere, lack of exercise... whatever you wanna pin it on. But a few studies have shown that some 'overweight' people are actually fairly fit; they exercise a lot, and they really don't overeat or overdo it on junk foods. Some people are just genetically larger, but their health statistics aren't any worse for it. And some 'skinny' people can have terrible blood cholesterol and other health markers. It's strange. But, by and large (no pun intended) this excess 'fatness' is probably responsible for the $32 billion diet industry, so either people really do want to lose weight, or they're just pressured by society to fit appearance standards. I think HEALTH should be the more accurate measure--not just how much someone weighs or what their measurements are. ...But then I used to teach aerobic dance and do sports and still keep myself active and dance & exercise, so I'm biased in that direction. ;)

'Maths'? *L* That's kind of hard to say, isn't it?

Yeah, Spanish is taught in schools. So are a few other languages (especially at colleges), but really, in some areas, most of the students speak Spanish as their first language. It's the TEACHERS who have to learn it in order to try to educate them somehow! I'm not sure how much I agree with a multilingual U.S., but other countries are multilingual. I wouldn't mind knowing more Spanish and French, and maybe a few other languages. It makes traveling so much easier!

German music: like the 'Run Lola Run' soundtrack? :) (except much of it is in English)
