I can't decide if I should get another saucepan full, or go to bed?! Or should I wait until tomorrow morning? But I'm hungry... addictive stuff...

Some melted sugar was on top

the waiter pours a little water on it
like they do with "sizzling steak"
so that people will say when they see it
"Oh Yummers! Glistening Porridge!"
cheers,
+Seraphim.

Re: waiters' trick

I am scared of people who have to eat out if they want porridge... they deserve water tricks!

with porridge I cry out, pace O Twist,
Less! Less! in piteous tones...

when the shul
feeds you gruel
not fit for a mule
that's not a-more!

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore

When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore

... and when the large bowl of porridge is empty, your belly is warm, all is right with the world, and that's amore!

When you swim down the creek
And an Eel bites your cheek
That's a Moray!

Porridge? Is that -- oatmeal?

Anyway, more totally cute pics at these links:

I don't think they'd eat your porridge. ;)

Awww :-)

In the first one, I bet someone sneakily superglued the nut to the floor, and the Squirrel was getting frustrated!

Yeah porridge is oatmeal. Umm... small/medium oats, which I simply cover in milk and heat until they're soft (only takes 2/3 mins)... stir in quite a lot of sugar, then also put a layer of sugar over the top, which melts and gives it an extra-golden topping.

I'm also not sure if squirrels would eat oats in that form!

My PM has oatmeal for breakfast EVERY MORNING. He also adds tons of brown sugar and milk. I'm not sure it's all that healthy at that point!

I have to opt for cream of rice if I want cereal (or cold rice cereal). Wheat stuff usually has bran, and I seem to have trouble with oats and corn. But Cook's vanilla powder can make almost anything taste good. :Þ

Is "cream of rice" what we call "rice pudding", do you think? Ultimately soft rice all mushed in with creamy milk. Normally it's an after meal pudding though, so maybe it's not the same.

Wheat does normally have bran, yeah.

Vanilla is a good flavour of anything!

No, rice pudding's a little different. Cream of rice cereal is just granulated rice, so yeah, it's really mushy. Not much fiber.

Vanilla's yummy! :)
