Ego!
I was in the British Library, reading through a few select chapters of "Religion in schools: controversies around the world" by R. Murray Thomas.

In one chapter on the controversy surrounding the teaching of humanism, agnosticism and stuff in RE, the author gives a brief history of the summary of religion in the UK... and hey presto, gives a references to (Crabtree, V (2002-2003)), and so I go check the bibliography, and there I am!

Crabtree, V. (2002-2003). Religion in Britain. Bane of Monotheis. Available online: http://www.vexen.co.uk/religion/rib.html#UK

It's the first time I've been an actual book cite me! And it's a good, scholarly, academic sociology-of-religion type book, too! How cool is that? *beams*

The Importance of Current Events is Amplified by our Egos
The Importance of Current Events is Amplified By our Egos

"People use drama to report events of their own times, always making it appear more important than past events of similar or greater importance. The first century Jewish historian Josephus bemoaned this aspect of Human nature two thousands years ago, and our egos show no sign of letting us be more objective. I believe it is the common ego of the normal person that makes current events in the world around us seem more significant and cataclysmic than times gone before."

Bizarre!
I am in this months ("2004 Feb") edition of Bizarre magazine, page 113, an article on Furry and Satanism, and it's a really cool intelligent-sounding article! I sound articulate and they haven't turned me into yet-another zoophile, perverse, devil-worshipping internet geek!

OCRT
www.religious tolerance.org have an essay: "Religion in Britain and the rest of the UK", it has 10 sources listed at the bottom of the page, and three of them are me :-)

A fourth source is simply a quote I quoted from Monica Furlong that they've re-used.

(www.religioustolerance.org is ran by four people under the name of the Ontario Consultants for Religious Tolerance, and they are the biggest website on religion on the Internet. Being linked from them is valuable)

Tuesday = at home day
Loud annoying workmen were doing loud annoying things all around the house today, and the hot water was off... instead of sleeping, I was kept up by banging and drilling! Grrr... and then, I couldn't get a shower all day either and had to sit around being smelly! Then were here from 8am till 6pm

Told some pesky reporters that I am definately not going to do anything with them and also that they're fighting an uphill struggle if they expect anyone else to volunteer. They kept trying to stroke my ego and intice me by saying nice things. I have forwarded their details to a list or two, but have warned them no-one is likely to respond.

Have been trawling through error logs and referer logs for my sites, fixed up a dozen silly little errors.

All my friends are going to Whitby! Well at least my housemates aren't anyway.

I'm skint!

What a boring entry!

The Faces of Satan
I'm on the TV :-)

... on video anyway... it's got a three people in a documentary on various positions towards Satan, "The Faces of Satan"

It has:

* A white light exorcist "clairvoyant" repeating late medieval and post-Reformation stories about Satan, who basically appears to have obtained all her language from Poltergeist. She waffles on saying very little except for pop-culture new age white light stereotypes.

* A Christian priest talking about dualism and Satan worshippers, but apart from his statements that he only recognizes Christian Satanism or dualistic Satanism, was the most sensible person, considering most of the supernatural to be subjective and not real. He is practical and post-enlightenment in his outlook on Satan & the occult

* A Vexen who apparently is the only person who has actually studied Satanism... guess who doesn't sound like a paranoid, delusional fraud feeding off horror movies :-) But I have a funny accent and don't have a strong voice unlike the other two. But I say the most sense!
