My new web domain is a collection of pages and texts on society, sociology, subculture, human sexuality, epistemology (how do we know what's true?) and a little philosophy.

It replaces two previous subdomains.

Here are some *new* locations for two popular pages:

Nice weekend
The Wedding of [info]tomjon and [info]pebblepub was lovely, with dozens of people to natter to who I haven't seen for years.

Went clubbing at Synthetic Culture at Egg Club on Friday night... the venue is still brilliant. The people were so young though... [info]orinotta said that it was like everyone was 20 years younger and that they were all probably the children of the Slimelight crowd! :p

Anyway, back to work in 5 minutes.

Bizarre!
I am in this months ("2004 Feb") edition of Bizarre magazine, page 113, an article on Furry and Satanism, and it's a really cool intelligent-sounding article! I sound articulate and they haven't turned me into yet-another zoophile, perverse, devil-worshipping internet geek!

Sat/Sun
Great weekend (so far). Bank holiday Monday should be me recovering & resting, and nothing else.

Saw many people at the Furmmet (I was up at 9am on Saturday). Went clubbing at Slimelight which was great. Except I have no idea if Patricia wants to talk to me or see me. Confusing girl. Went to Starbucks afterwards, then to Kensington Gardens from 11am where I sat for several hours and recited & started to learn Czech.

Attended the BiblioGoths meet, who are a great bunch of happy perky sociable intelligent and nice goths :-) Hung around with them until 9/10pm.

Is now 11pm and I've been up for 38 hours so far...

I'll be at LondonFurs meet on Saturday!

Will then follow it up with Slimelight. Members' free entry before midnight, and ANOTHER 3-floor special!! Rar! On Sunday will attempt to go to the BiblioGoths meet (although I haven't read their monthly book, which is something-or-other by whats-his-name), but whether I go or not depends on tiredness!

Furmeet was 'ok'. I missed most people because I arrived an hour late, and a large party went to St James' park, including Marcony and others who I'd have loved to see, but I stayed with Makali and other others who I always love to see! Sat in the Jorenne Celeste with them for a while, went and played pool for an hour, ate out in some spicey chicken restaurant, then went to Namcos where we met up with most of the others. Most the people in Namco, for the whole evening, were furries! Got home at midnight or so.

Done 2 mile job from 1:04 to 1:22, which is 18 minutes. It's gradually getting down to 16 minutes! I'm overdue though, I should be on 3 miles a day from tommorow, for 5 days, after which my aim is to do 2 miles in 15 mins. At the end of my pre-training schedule (which by military terminology is the PARA program) I will be doing 5 miles a day, in 45 minutes. Other elements such as 30 pressups and stuff is no problem, I'm well on schedule with those.

Also, I've done some excellent work with Baphomet Method, but am not releasing stuff at the moment, I'm still struggling with vocals, although some demo software I've got is presently turning out to be much more useful than the vocoder I had been trying to use beforehand. I think I've cracked writing song-compatible lyrics, and wrote lyrics for "We are the best" by Baphomet Method, although it might be called "The Kissing School"

Mutual Adoption of friends as siblings
I have just added the following new section to my Furry Subculture page:

"The phenomenon I am about to describe isn't limited to furry social groups. Sometimes a pair of close friends will adopt each other as siblings. So, one person may adopt another as their brother or sister, and then refer to them as such. The closeness that causes furries to do this can be either physical affection or an intellectual attachment to the other person. Some people do this more than others and have a large string of people they call bro or sis.

Because furry is a highly affectionate subculture, people who trust or are otherwise comfortable with each other can develop more intimate closeness with each other, despite there being no sexual relations. I have found that when people start assuming that a pair of friends are going out, even if they themselves have no intention of doing so, is when they are most likely to adopt each other as sibling and sibling, by mutual consent. This has a few affects:
 1. It gives definition to a relationship that would otherwise be mistaken for a sexual one by others

 2. It lends itself to curbing more sexual behavior between the people, so, mutual adoption can be done in times when two people are close and trusting enough to form sexual relations, but do not actually want to do so. Adopting each other as siblings then puts up a mental barrier and changes the internal bonding of the relationship

 3. It can be done between friends as a way formalizing and declaring a friendship

It lends an overall positive atmosphere to social groups, and reduces social pressure as people are more inclined to be nice to each other.
If we look at it as a form of ritual, the same as declaring support for a football team, then once you have made that declaration you come to take it more seriously. Likewise, when a pair of friends mutually declare each other siblings then it has the same affect, and the friendship becomes potentially more solid by the way of an informal social commitment."

The furmeet was great, it seems everyone has really matured over the last half a year! I've been absent from the meets for a while. People are, especially rejects and outacsts, it seems, picked up by furry and they learn to be sociable: They mature, by making friends and interacting with people. Aside from the younger generation, I met and spent much time with several old friends and it was really great to meet those who I met!

Got great and simple Japanese food from Tokyo Diner, then sat in a gay pub in SoHo for an hour or two, but it was too crowded so I took us all to Starbucks where we had yummy coffee and talked for another hour or two.

Great Saturday :-)

I'll be at the FurMeet later today.

In other news... I've been a bit silent on the Web Site front, and on the social front. I'll be more sociable later, for now I seem to be quite busy. Periods of silence are frequently followed by a series of large and important webpages, and I am indeed brewing a large number of ideas and text behind the scenes.

New Years' Resolutions were, and are:

 • Make new dreams
 • Be more of an activist
 • Make a music CD

It seems that number three can potentially fulfill all three. The aim isn't to make a /commercial/ one, just to make one that I love. I have 6 tracks so far that I intend on including. ([info]baphometmethod is my LJ user & slave for this project).
