Survived the heat wave?
It was wonderful, I came back to Germany from Afghanistan for 2 weeks R&R, and found that Germany was basically the same temp. as Kabul! Although, Mazaar-e-Sherif is still hotter than both.

At least there were breezes in Germany, too... altogether, the weahter made me happy :-) sun sun sun!

And that meant that everyone at Ampifest (2-day alternative industrial and rock festival, inc. VNV Nation) were superbly scantily dressed. We stayed in a hotel in Koln for 3 days, but didn't get any photos at all.

I went swimming a few times, which was great. Went to a BBQ.

I haven't been online because a lightning strike broke my network card, made the router smoke, melted the DSL line splitter and has caused a line fault meaning that there is no digital connection even though the phone (somehow) still works. They're working on the line.

Oh, and gave massive fusses to my two beautiful and character-ful kittens!

I've been working through (post-spam-filter) 300 emails or so from the past 2 weeks.

I hope you've all been enjoying the summer :-)

Monday Picnic
Went to London Sluts picnic in Hyde Park on Monday, which was great fun!

Vexen's Photos of Picnic

Arkady has lots of photos of the event...
http://www.arkady.org.uk/Picnic.html

There was [info]arkady, [info]felishumanus, BarbedWireKiss, Fluffy Mark, Sheridan, [info]cyberpunkgrrl, Avalon, Darklyng, Wizard, [info]perverse_idol, Blue Helen and some people who I didn't actually talk to but should have said hi to including [info]glitchdrei and many others who I know but whose names I've forgotten, and probably at least one or two I hadn't seen before. Well there were nearly 30 people and I only managed to name 10 of them... oh, Jude, the tiny toddler cyber goth!

We had bubble blowing, tree climbing, koi fire playing, air propelled rockets, frizbees, food, lots of alcohol... and it seemed like the police kept going past in various modes of transport. 1 police car was going up and down, also, 2 police motorcycles, and a police van full of policemen.

Then it got silly, and when the police pogostickers went past I just had to hail them and we took photos of me bouncing around pogosticks with the police. I thought about doing the same with the police unicyclist, but actually because they hadn't scared us off the police must have called the US Military, because they dropped a sattelite guided bomb on us. Luckily it didn't detonate! Ha!

There was a mundane person in Slimes who annoyed me. Mundane people are allowed there as long as they don't cause trouble, and this is the best way for it to be... I am not one to alienate strangers. But this one was hassling a girl who was dancing next to me, and kept leaning over towards her and just looking at her (I don't know why, but mundanes are cunts when they're on drugs (or drunk), goths are still nice people when on drugs, go figure), he also kept trying to dance too close to me and I had to push him away a few times. Anyway, at one point he disappears but comes back and punches me. Kind of. I wasn't expecting it, but he just appeared.

I moved my head and he only managed to brush my lip and didn't really contact. I held his wrist, he was really weak (though he looked well built), and used it to manipulate his arm so he had to move away from me and... typical of Vexen behavior: I done it while still dancing with the the three limbs that weren't taken up with this pesky endeavour. Anyway, he went away.

This doesn't really qualify for inclusion on my bloody stupid mundanes page... and actually, it wasn't really annoying, just pathetic. Other people have complained that that night too many trendies were in Slimes and a few of them did cause trouble. I'm sure plenty of goths cause trouble too... but mostly by overindulging and being ill, and not by intimidation of the people.

Alt night
Alternative music night at Hertfordshire University...

Music: Bit pants. Hard rock and metal, as always. The Alt music nights ironically have a very narrow definition of "alternative"!

People: Lots of young students! Wow... they're all so young!

And a small group of old bastards which were very cool :-)

Thanks to [info]mrmime, [info]mattlazycat, Dee, Sam, [info]orinotta, Cretin, and others!

Slimelight was good! And Sunday was expensive!
I left my house on my own ([info]iakat left 2hrs ahead of me to meet [info]mattlazycat) at 9.30... and arrived at 10.30 at Slimelight. Enough time to get some drinks during Gloomy Hour! 2 for the price of one.

So I started out by drinking 3 Watermelon flavored Bicardi Breezers and a Lime flavored alcopop (the precise variety escapes me). Then I was ready to start dancing! And dance I did....

Party on Saturday was fun
I got to see some old Hertfordshire University goths, and a few who came in from London.

Was generally fun.

I also realize that I'm one of those sociable happy talkative people that I always looked up to as a newbie little goth :-)... or I am sometimes at least.
