"Islam and the West: Cultural wars, immigration and pluralism" by Vexen Crabtree (2006) There are peaceful Muslims in the West, and any policies towards Islam must be careful not to alienate or radicalize them. But, there are problems with Muslims in the West. The murder of Leo van Gogh in Holland for making a film that highlighted the role of Islam and the Qur'an in the oppression of women showed us that Islamists are everywhere. This follows from the riots, violence and threats that have left over 100 dead as a result of a Danish newspaper publishing Muhammad cartoons. And before this, the book burnings, shop bombs, violence and mass riots that resulted from Salmon Rushdie's book (and the murder of a translator of it), that examined the life of Muhammad in a non-traditional way. The murder of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn 'for Dutch Muslims' because he questioned the ability of Muslims to integrate into the West shows us that honest opinions, artistic freedom, freedom of expression and intellectual criticism are being challenged by religious superstition again. It is mature and civil to accept criticism without resorting to violence: How can we teach our Muslim populations to restrain their own immoral extremists? I look at a few methods: 1. Laissez-Faire - Let them come (a failed technique)2. Alienation, Racism and Intolerance (makes things worse)3. Citizenship and Values tests for immigrants4. Citizenshop schooling for all UK children5. Stricter immigration and security checks: Already in placeTags: globalism, islam, pluralism, religion, tolerance Current Location: Afghanistan

Erickson was an enthusiastic born-again Christian, who split his local community in 2 with his new, passionate-style masses... many of the previous regulars left, and the born-again crowd moved in. He came with all the talk, a typical religious-right moral-crusader loon. Two of those who didn't like his approach, but still attended the church, were one day found shot. After a search warrant from police where he had been re-located to after the murders, child porn was found on his computer, and he hung himself a day later in the hallway of his new church, St. Mary's of the Seven Dolors, in Hurley, Wisconsin. [News: http://www.citypages.com/databank/26/1296/article13748.asp ] "This week, at last, St. Croix County Attorney Eric Johnson is presenting evidence connecting Father Ryan to the murders. Johnson will offer an explanation for what Erickson and O'Connell were talking about in the minutes before the murder. And he will confirm what has long been whispered by Erickson's harshest critics: that the crusading sexual moralist had been engaging in the same crimes against children that have devastated the Catholic church in recent years." "A right-wing newspaper, Renew America, edited by anti-abortion activist Matt C. Abbott, frequently defends Erickson" The religious right are the developed world's most insiduous disease; they are long-term, devious, strategic, organized... fundamentalists in a very similar way to Sharia-promoting Islamist fundamentalists of the world. Europe is caught between Islam's Dark Ages to our East, and America's growing Christian fundamentalism to our West. "Islamists deny human rights to gays. An attempt by the United Nations to include gay people in anti-discrimination measures is being derailed by a coalition of Islamic countries. UN sources said that Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia were doing everything in their power to stop the resolution. They hope to delay the vote long enough to kill it off entirely. Secretary of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association in Britain, George Broadhead, commented that all Muslim countries outlawed homosexuality, and the penalties for those convicted ranged from prison, flogging, execution by a variety of perverted methods – such as throwing the victim off a cliff or pushing a stone wall on to them. “The record of these countries on human rights in general is bad enough, but when it comes to gay human rights, they are disgusting.” "To help, try joining groups that lobby for gay anti-discrimination rights, such as: http://www.stonewall.org.uk/http://www.galha.org.uk/(This now included on: http://www.vexen.co.uk/religion/homosexuality.html ) Tags: homosexuality, islam, religion, un Current Mood: aggravated Listening To: "Slither" by Metallica

What causes this behaviour? Two recent examples below. In the religious world punishments for apostasy and heresy have been some of the gravest offences, and creation of blasphemy laws has been a thorn in the side of mature, tolerant society for some time. Largely secular countries such as much of Western Europe no longer enforce such laws, I'm not sure about Greece (it's normally the exception to such things on account of it's extreme Christianity), but what causes people to become so closed, arrogant, negative, that they resort to violence when they find things that disagree with their religion? Pakistan blasphemy laws, death penalty for burning Koran, but not other books [2] Pakistan. Two Muslims are arrested for allegedly trying to born copies of the Koran. The countries outrageous blasphemy laws make this an offence. Burning of other books, such as those by author Salmon Rushdie, are actively encouraged by the same country. "Hundreds of people gathered outside the home of one suspect where the incident allegedly happened, demanding that the men be publicly hanged, said Iqbal." Blasphemy carries a maximum penalty of death. One of the accused, Yousaf, is mentally ill. Police have said they have not questioned them yet, "Right now we are busy trying to control the public anger". There is something wrong with Pakistan culture if "public anger" and mobs are shouting for a public execution because of book burning, when the same mobs are known to burn books by (say) Western fiction writers. "Pakistan's blasphemy laws have been criticized by international human rights organizations as discriminatory and mostly directed against the minority Christian community. Last year Amnesty International urged Pakistan to amend or abolish the law." Pakistan blasphemy laws, apartheid and jail for criticising Islam [2] "In a separate case, two Pakistani Christians who had been sentenced to 35 years for blasphemy after a dispute over ice cream bowls have been acquitted by a High Court judge." In a scene reminiscent of apartheid, the Christians were not allowed to eat ice cream from the same bowls that Muslims used. "They were told by the vendor that they must provide their own bowls if they wanted ice cream. In the ensuing row, the ice cream man said that the brothers had made "bad remarks" against Islam and the Prophet." Thankfully "bad remarks against Islam" only nearly got them into jail. But "the two men are unlikely to be celebrating their release. Muslim fanatics are already calling for revenge. The men's family has already had to flee its home because of intimidation." Nigeria is on the verge of public stonings after adopting Islamic Sharia law [2] Nigeria has recently adopted Muslim Sharia law. One woman, Amina Lawlal is sentanced to death by stoning for having a child outside of marriage, and there are two other such horrific public executions waiting to happen, although as yet none have been carried out. Election campaigning is believed to be the reason why these cases have suffered delays. Another woman under simlar charges was let off after a massive worldwide outcry. Presently, more than 2 million people have signed the petition, I signed it 2 weeks ago it is simple. Sign it here: http://www.amnistiaporsafiya.org/ (for instructions, visit the National Secular Society's homepage at the URL below) What we learn from this: NEVER ALLOW RELIGIOUS BELIEFS TO FORM PART OF GOVERNMENT OR LAW MAKING PROCESS. So, for example, Sunday trading laws, anti-homosexuality, etc, should be opposed as should any law that exists only because of religious beliefs. Such things are a slippery slope. Do not accept EVEN YOUR OWN religous beliefs as part of common law. Third world countries and the USA have problems about this, so do Muslim countries and Greece, due to it's Christianity. Conclusion:
It seems that even the "good" of the Koran is based on Satan's power... Satan chose to let Muhammad live, when faced with the pagans whom Muhammad could not conquer without Satan's help. Or... if Satan did not inspire the verses, then Muhammad himself perverted God's law and therefore his recitation of the Koran is not pure or from God, at least in part, due to the materialistic (Satanic) Earth... the Earth that had power over even Muhammad. With verses missing, verses created by Muhammad according to his needs and not according to truth, and with an unknown quantity of verses inspired by Satan, the Koran is more of a mistake than divinely inspired. No wonder The Satanic Verses is such a painful reminder for Muslims of how their scripture is indebted to Satan!
