VNV Nations' new CD is his best yet, it is truly awesomely brilliant, exciting and all those types of things. It's still futurepop rather than the EBM that VNV started out as. It's a dark, brooding and yet pounding masterpiece. Likewise, Assemblage 23's new album is also pretty good. (Er, I've been to Resurrection Records... it's been ages since I got some CDs) Also I picked up a Icon of Coil remix CD, which is on-average better than their (sometimes badly judged) albums. I've also picked up (but not listened to) a Combichrist CD, and (more riskily) an Ayria CD because I liked "Horrible Dream" that I have on a compilation. I've finished reading Prof. Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene (1976)... and well, it was so amazingly good that I'm going to have to write out my thoughts when calm, relaxed and objective. He is my greatest hero. Good Saturday :-) Watched Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Which was amazing. You know... I haven't cried so much since Moulin Rouge. More than once I note only shed tears, but sobbed like a girl :-). I enjoyed the warm company of Marconi and Felis who I met beforehand. They rock :-) I randomly met pennypenny which is nice as always, and wondered with her and her friend. We went into a obscure video store, and I got Soylent Green for £5!! It was sat there waiting for me! It knew I'd been quoting it around here! It stalks my imagination. I asked: They didn't have the German dubbed version. Ah well! I bought "Church of Acid" by Velvet Acid Christ from Resurrection Records, which is very good (so far). Very ambient, atmospheric, smooth electronic industrial, as good as Twisted Thought Generator by the same band. I also bought "Entities" by Project Pitchfork because I like " souls" that is on the album, I don't know how good the album is. And I finally got " Electronomicon" by The Electric Hellfire Club (click for album reviews), which Resurrection Records ordered for me. In Resurrection Records in London I bought:
- "Bunkertor 7" by Wumpscut
- "Twisted Thought Generator" by Velvet Acid Christ
- "Satan's Little Helpers" by The Electric Hellfire Club
- "Supernature" by Inkubus Sukkubus
I was very efficient, went straight from London Heathrow (where I saw a friend off) to Camden, straight to Res. Records, picked the albums, and then went straight to Kings Cross and returned to St Albans. Alone. At the station I was feeling like I was spending too much time walking everywhere, and that it was really time I bought a bike.
So, passing the bike shop, I noticed two things:
- They had a jet black off road bike outside their shop (which served to grab my attention in the first place)
- The bike was on sale for £100
So I bought: A black bike, a black helmet, front and back lights with batteries, bike lock/chain (£14), an underseat bag (£10), a puncture repair kit with tools (£3) and oil (£3). The last 2 items I placed in the bag under the seat.
So I cycled into work (I'm working this Sat night and Sunday) with no problems. It's about time I got a bike. Tags: camden, cycling, electric hellfire club, inkubus sukkubus, resurrection records, velvet acid christ, wumpscut Current Mood: pleased Listening To: "Capital Punishment" by Wumpscut
