!!!!great site!!!!

Your site makes so much sense to me thank you, i thought god didnt exist and now i know he doesnt. religion causes wars and that sucks.

I think the idea of god was created to make people lead good lives. humans have taken it too far though. Religion uses fear to keep people at it. for example 'satan'. people dont want to go to 'hell' so they follow religion - simply because they are scared.

you probably know all this but im just telling you anyway.

Re: !!!!great site!!!!

A quote that I open the section on the Christian version of hell completely validates what you say about God, Satan and Hell... they were invented as means to make people behave better.

The quote starts... "The more enlightened sages of the Mysteries viewed such horrors as merely stories to encourage better moral behavior. Plutarch calls the terrors of the Underworld an 'improving myth'. The Christian philosopher Origen likewise argued that the literal terrors of hell were false, but they ought to be publicized in order to scare simpler believers" from The Jesus Mysteries by Freke & Gandy, p90, as quoted on my page about Hell.

Plutarch (2000 year old philosopher) knew the same as you have realized.

"religion causes wars and that sucks"

Not true!! Religion is used by humans as an 'excuse' for war, but it is rarely the primary motive for war. Usually thats greed and nationalism.

Take Israel and Palestine for example. Many of the most passionate Jewish Zionists are non-religious and not all Arabs are Muslims. This conflict is simply about two ethnic/cultural groups fighting over rights to a peice of land. Now okay both sides use their 'holy' books to back up their arguement as to why they should have the land, but even if you took religion away these two would be fighting.

Another example is the conflict in Northern Ireland between the Catholics and the Prostestants. If you look deeply at what is happening it is not religion they are fighting about; its cultural identity and land. If it was a truly religious war then they would be fighting over theological positions. But this is not the case. Ask any IRA terrorist what they think of premillianilism and they will look at you with great confusion.

In most wars religion is an excuse, not the cause!! The cause is zenophobia and greed!

Proof?? Maybe the Christian God doesnt exist, but what about a pantheist God or a Deist God?

The Cosmological argument
This argument can also be called causality. Aristotle talked about this concept writing that all motion must have a beginning. A ball does not role all on its own. It must be hit, for example. But something must move the bat that hits the ball. Something in turn had to start the person moving/growing/living who swung the bat that hit the ball. Aristotle held the belief that motion could not go back infinitely, there had to have been something that started the first movement, an “unmoved mover”. (Durant 1978; p71)
The cosmological argument basically sees God as being the ‘First Cause’, the thing that was not caused by anything else and started everything else happening. This holds to the bible’s saying that God was there in the beginning. Causality actually implies that God was the beginning. (Durant 1978; p71)

Just because a dead guy said it doesn't make it true... Hell, I could quote a number of dead atheist philosophers at you, but the fact is, you're probably not gonna change what you believe on the say of some goth kid you don't know...
So, Captain Sunshine, why are YOU bothering to try to sway someone else's opinion with your over-used philosophy? Why bother other people? If they wanna believe, they will. I don't. Leave me alone...
Of course, if anyone REALLY wants to debate this point further with a hysterical little sh*t, go ahead! Drop me an email at danshouseofdannyness@hotmail.com
Oh, and Vexen? In case you still read these comments... Great f*cking site, mate, you converted me to the way of LaVey :)
