"Souls do not Exist: Evidence from Science & Philosophy Against Mind-Body Dualism" by Vexen Crabtree (2007, rewritten from my 1998 original).
Our 'minds', 'souls', 'spirit' and consciousness are all physical in nature. Thousands of years of research has shown that our brains comprise and produce our true selves. Souls and spirits do not exist. Our bodies run themselves. We know from cases of brain damage and the effects of psychoactive drugs, that our experiences are caused by physical chemistry acting on our physical neurones in our brains. Our innermost selves is our biochemical selves.

Ghosts
Are ghosts more the electrical energy leaving our bodies on death, leaving being an imprint on our surroundings?

Also, there are still so many things we don't know. I'm not a total "believer" in ghosts. But I'm open to the idea that some scientific reason will be found that explains them other than psychosomatic experiences.
Re: Ghosts
Anyway... I'm not arguing against your open mind of course, it's just that I've read a fair amount about ghosts, and not many people believe there is a viable method for the creation.

Wisdom
Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
